Mount Kenya Sirimon Route
This Mount Kenya route provides the easiest and most scenic access to the northern side of mount Kenya central peaks.This sectin of Mount Kenya includes Batian, Nelion and Lenana. Sirimon route to Mount Kenya is 25 km from Nanyuki town heading friendly towards Meru town.
Among all mount Kenya routes, Sirimon has many advantages that makes it climbing friendly and comfortable. Mount Kenya sirimon route lies on the north-western side of mount Kenya, and generally escapes some mount Kenya rainfall,making it drier than other mount Kenya routes most time of the year.
On this route, there are two permanent campsites. From Mackinders valley, where the shiptons hut stands ,mount Kenya peaks including terere and sendeyo, two ancient parastitic vents of the main peaks.
At this point the water is plentiful, and you can always refill your bottles,You also have a chance to cross the equator both at Nanyuki and on your way to the old moses camp.
4 days Mt. Kenya Climbing: Sirimon - Route
Day 1: Nairobi-Nanyuki.
Departure from Nairobi at 09:00 hrs drive to Nanyuki for a brief stop at the Equator line continue to Nanyuki town for lunch, afternoon is spent acclimatize for the hike. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Nanyuki.
Day 2: Nanyuki-Old Moses
After breakfast, vehicle transfer to Sirimon gate and hike to Old Moses camp for overnight (3300m), 5 to 6 hrs hikes,dinner and overnight at the old moses camp.
Day 3: Old Moses-Shiptons.
After breafast hike to Shipton's camp (4200m) for overnight (5 to 6 hrs hikes) dinner and overnight at the shiptons camp.
Day 4: Shiptons-Point Lenana-Nairobi
wake up early at 2.00 am atempt point Lenana (4985m) at 03:00 hrs and descend directly to shiptons camp for breakfast then proceed to sirimon park gate to connect your transfer back to Nairobi arriving late in the afternoon.
