Volunteer in Teaching Program:

This program focuses on the Kenya primary schools attended by orphans and the most vulnerable children in the villages of Western Kenya.It is an initiative by Volunteer students abroad on a trip to Kenya and the Kenya volunteer students and social workers, that through their volunteer program help to improve the learning conditions of the Kenya community based Primary public Schools,mostly attended by poor children who hardly have anything to eat at home,or get very little meal that cannot sustain their stay in school for a whole day!

VOLUNTEER PROJECTS UNDER EDUCATION:

Teaching Aid/Volunteer Teachers-
This initiative provides volunteers with opportunities in Kenya to help in teaching in the Kenya public schools attended by the underprivileged children.Most of these schools are found either,in the slums or in the rural areas.In most cases,these schools are under staffed and have less teachers who need support from either local volunteers from Kenya or volunteers from abroad.
Ahead of Volunteering,volunteer teachers are provided with basic orientations on the Kenya community volunteer modules for schools which also elaborates on the Kenya syllabuses for primary and secondary schools(whichever is applicable).

Life Skills:
This program provides volunteers with opportunities to share their experiences,ideas,knowledge and values of life with pupils,youths and adults.In Kenya,most cases of drug abuse and alcoholism,that result into addiction begin at youthful stage.This happens,in most cases due to lack of listening and understanding the major needs or interest of young people.Most abused drugs in the rural that easily penetrate into primary schools are;bhang(marijuana),cobblers glue,ghart(miraa),cocaine etc.

Volunteer social wokers,students and teachers on trip to Kenya have helped the children in the villages to understand themselves and their peers during the times of challenges in their lives,especially on overcoming peer pressure.

Sanitary Towel Program/Girl Child Support;
Most girls in schools in the rural Kenya usually experience a lot of problems that relate to their emotional and physical challenges during adolescence.Their psychological problems begin at the time that they start experiencing their monthly periods/menstrual cycles.Most girls don’t have protective sanitary towels/pads to use and in most cases fail to turn up for school until they are through with the periods.This unusual absentism from school sometimes,result into girls poor performance in class and a lot of discouragement that they end up dropping out of school.
